Makeup, Skincare and Haircare Declutter

I was organizing my makeup collection the other day and I realized that I had a few products that I just knew I was not going to use again and I thought to myself, “Why take up the little bit of storage space that I have with products that I don’t want to use?” So I decided that I needed to declutter.

Makeup inspires me, but when my collection is disorganized it is difficult to see all of the makeup that I have and I end up only using a small portion of it. Clutter flusters me and causes me anxiety. I was past due for this declutter and it felt nice to have everything in its place and organized again.

I would like to show you what I ended up decluttering and why I chose to get rid of it. I will also post the full video below if you would like to watch it! Let me know in the comments how you feel about organizing makeup or any tips you have!

This is a glitter top coat from Ulta and I felt like the glitter fell out quite a bit and it just did not show up like I wanted it to. I found myself never reaching for this product because it had been disappointing and so I decided to let it go and let someone else get some use out of it.

Makeup, Skincare and Haircare Declutter_Moment(25)

This is a metallic liquid lipstick from Wet n Wild. I did not have any complaints about the formula, the color was just very bright and I never felt drawn to wear it so it was just taking up space in my collection and I decided to let it go.

Makeup, Skincare and Haircare Declutter_Moment(24)

This was an eye pencil from Wet n Wild. I enjoyed the color of this eye pencil but it was not long wearing at all, which can be common for eye pencils. But I felt like this shadow  faded way too quickly for me to ever use it again so this was an easy pass.

Makeup, Skincare and Haircare Declutter_Moment(23)

This was the first brow product that I ever purchased and I enjoyed for a time, but I have now come across better brow products that I enjoy more and I did not see myself using this again so I decided to let it go.

Makeup, Skincare and Haircare Declutter_Moment(21)

This is another brow pencil and it is in the shade black which is too dark for me so I cannot use this one and gave it away.

Makeup, Skincare and Haircare Declutter_Moment(20)

This is a liquid contour from Ofra and I have two other lighter shades of this product that I enjoy using. The reason that I got rid of this one was because the shade was too dark for my skin tone and I would not be able to use it.

Makeup, Skincare and Haircare Declutter_Moment(19)

I actually enjoyed using this blush but it shattered and I did not want to deal with the mess that comes with that so I gave it away.

Makeup, Skincare and Haircare Declutter_Moment(17)

This is a lip crayon from Ulta and my only gripe with this product was that the color washed me out so I got rid of it.

Makeup, Skincare and Haircare Declutter_Moment(16)

This is a lipstick from Broadway Colors. I did not enjoy the formula of this lipstick. It was very chalky and drying. The color was also a bit bright for my taste.

Makeup, Skincare and Haircare Declutter_Moment(15)

This is the Maracuja Oil from Tarte. I don’t think there is anything wrong with this oil and it is supposed to be very good for your skin, especially for anti aging purposes. But I found myself never reaching for this oil and it was just taking up space. I would rather give it to someone who would actually use it, so I gave it away.

Makeup, Skincare and Haircare Declutter_Moment(13)

This is another eye pencil from Wet n Wild and I had the same issues with it as the one above. The colors faded very quickly and the navy liner would not show up on my eye. I was very disappointed with the product.

Makeup, Skincare and Haircare Declutter_Moment(12)

I believe this is a stick highlighter from Wet n Wild. I thought this was a rather strange product, though I would not say it was bad. Just not something that is practical for me to use so I chose to get rid of it.

Makeup, Skincare and Haircare Declutter_Moment(7)

This is a mattifying powder from Wet n Wild. I thought this was an ok powder. Not super impressive, not bad. It shattered and so I was not using it anymore and decided to get rid of it. I think I would not repurchase this before trying out other powders to see if I found one I liked better.

This is an eye shadow palette that I got in my Boxycharm. This is a terrible palette with horrible pigmentation and blendability. When I use this palette I have to reapply the shadows so many times in order for the colors to show up and when I blend them they just blend into one dull color. You can only do one look with this palette because all of the shadows blend into nothing. I love collecting eye shadow palettes, but this one was not hard to get rid of at all and I hope someone will be able to enjoy it because I personally hated it.

This was another Boxycharm fail. I do love Boxycharm, but they have had some not so great products before. This is a concealer palette by Measurable Difference. This is a very dry concealer, which in of itself is not a bad thing. I personally just did not enjoy the dry formula. The other problem I had with this palette was that there was hardly any product in the pans. I used the light shade one time and hit pain, which should not happen in my opinion. Some people claimed to have found this palette at dollar stores after we received them in our BoxyCharms, which was also very disappointing as this was marketed as being a higher end brand. If I had gone out to a dollar store and bought this palette myself I might not have felt so badly about it, but if it is being sold as a high-end palette I would have higher standards for it and this palette did not match up to those standards and I got rid of it for those reasons.

So those are all of the products that I decided to purge from my makeup collection! Have you tried any of the products that I mentioned? Let me know your thoughts in the comments! I would love to hear from you and don’t forget you can watch the full declutter in the video below!

My New Year Resolutions

ef1h5yttmz8-annie-spratt.jpg

It’s the dawning of a new year! 2016 is coming to a close and 2017 is rearing to go. This is the time of year when many people think about what they want to do differently in the new year. I know that some people do not like the idea of new year resolutions as they are notorious for failure. But my resolutions are goals for the new year and I believe it is very important to have goals for life. If you don’t have goals then you don’t have anything to improve on and you wont enjoy the success of completing a goal. Continue reading

I Have Power Through the Holy Spirit

stocksnap_d54z0nsbis

2 Timothy 1:5-7, I have been reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Louis and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also. For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.

In these verses Paul is speaking to Timothy about the faith of his grandmother and mother and reminding him to fan into flame the gifts that God has given him. God did not give us the Holy Spirit so that we could live timid lives full of fear. He gave us the Holy Spirit and spiritual gifts so that we could live with power and authority. We have to fan the flame of those gifts and be disciplined to cultivate them and learn to use them effectively.   Continue reading

God is Working for My Good

stocksnap_o8lqadl71o-1

Romans 8:28, And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Today’s post is going to be less of a teaching and more like an encouraging pep talk. As children of God, we can have confidence in knowing that God is always on our side and He is always working for the good in our lives. I am very young, only 21, so it doesn’t mean quite as much when I say this, but I have watched God take some horrible situations in my life and make something good out of it and I think just about any other Christian could say the same thing. I am Free from Condemnation

stocksnap_c2lhr43wqd

Romans 8:1-2, There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free forever from the law of sin and death.

John 3:17-18, “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”

When someone commits a crime they are arrested, taken to court, and if found guilty they are condemned to the punishment befitting the crime they committed. This is the system of justice that is used in many parts of the world today. And while this system may work pretty well for us, in the Kingdom of God things are done a bit differently. Egg Noodles

20161122_113419-2

Hunting season is in full force and we have been blessed with two deer so far thanks to my husband and his handy-dandy bow. There is an abundance of deer meat in the freezer and I have enjoyed making delicious meals with it. One of my all time favorite meals is Beef and Noodles. My great grandma made the best Beef and Noodles when I was growing up. Definitely a comfort food. I wanted to try my hand at making my own version of Beef and Noodles, using the deer meat we have harvested this year. Continue reading

I am Forgiven

Colossians 1:13-14, He has delivered us from the powers of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.

I have been redeemed and forgiven of all my sins. What an amazing gift! As a child of God, I don’t have to live in the shame of my mistakes. My God doesn’t hold my sin over my head. He doesn’t use my sin as leverage against me. He forgives me of my offenses and sets me free from the power of darkness. He brings wholeness and healing to the heart that has been damaged from the effects of sin. Continue reading
