My New Year Resolutions

It’s the dawning of a new year! 2016 is coming to a close and 2017 is rearing to go. This is the time of year when many people think about what they want to do differently in the new year. I know that some people do not like the idea of new year resolutions as they are notorious for failure. But my resolutions are goals for the new year and I believe it is very important to have goals for life. If you don’t have goals then you don’t have anything to improve on and you wont enjoy the success of completing a goal. Continue reading

I Have Power Through the Holy Spirit

2 Timothy 1:5-7, I have been reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Louis and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also. For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.

In these verses Paul is speaking to Timothy about the faith of his grandmother and mother and reminding him to fan into flame the gifts that God has given him. God did not give us the Holy Spirit so that we could live timid lives full of fear. He gave us the Holy Spirit and spiritual gifts so that we could live with power and authority. We have to fan the flame of those gifts and be disciplined to cultivate them and learn to use them effectively.   Continue reading

God is Working for My Good

Romans 8:28, And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Today’s post is going to be less of a teaching and more like an encouraging pep talk. As children of God, we can have confidence in knowing that God is always on our side and He is always working for the good in our lives. I am very young, only 21, so it doesn’t mean quite as much when I say this, but I have watched God take some horrible situations in my life and make something good out of it and I think just about any other Christian could say the same thing. I am Free from Condemnation

Romans 8:1-2, There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free forever from the law of sin and death.

John 3:17-18, “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”

When someone commits a crime they are arrested, taken to court, and if found guilty they are condemned to the punishment befitting the crime they committed. This is the system of justice that is used in many parts of the world today. And while this system may work pretty well for us, in the Kingdom of God things are done a bit differently. Egg Noodles

Hunting season is in full force and we have been blessed with two deer so far thanks to my husband and his handy-dandy bow. There is an abundance of deer meat in the freezer and I have enjoyed making delicious meals with it. One of my all time favorite meals is Beef and Noodles. My great grandma made the best Beef and Noodles when I was growing up. Definitely a comfort food. I wanted to try my hand at making my own version of Beef and Noodles, using the deer meat we have harvested this year. Continue reading

I am Forgiven

Colossians 1:13-14, He has delivered us from the powers of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.

I have been redeemed and forgiven of all my sins. What an amazing gift! As a child of God, I don’t have to live in the shame of my mistakes. My God doesn’t hold my sin over my head. He doesn’t use my sin as leverage against me. He forgives me of my offenses and sets me free from the power of darkness. He brings wholeness and healing to the heart that has been damaged from the effects of sin. Continue reading

I was Bought at a Price

1 Corinthians 6:19-20, Or do you not know that you your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit that is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.

I used these verses in my last blog I am United With Christ, but today I want to go more into depth about the price that this verse is talking about. Every Christian knows that Jesus died on the cross for them, but how many of us actually understand how much that death cost? I have personally taken the death and resurrection of Christ for granted many times. It is easy to get used to the idea and not see it for the great act of love and sacrifice that it really was. So I have done a little bit of research about the death of Jesus and I want to share that with you today. I will link the articles I got my information from at the bottom and I highly encourage you to do your own research and read more about this on your own as I have not included everything worth reading in this post.
